bullet  General Notes:

Birth Sep 1872 Kensington 1a 183 Florence Mary Blackmore

Birth Certificate
4 August 1872 at Saint Peters Wharf, Florence Mary, Girl, William Blackmore, Ann Blackmore formerly Muxworthy, Labourer. The informant was Ann Blackmore, mother, of Saint Peters Wharf Hammersmith on 13 September 1872.

1881 Census
RG11/2251 F80 P8
North Lane, Bickington, Fremington, Devon
Joseph Hy Thorne, Head, Mar, 21, Mason, Devon Fremington
Eliza Ann do, Wife, Mar, 29, , Devon Fremington
Edmund do, Son, Un, 2, , Devon Fremington
William Hy do, Son, Un, 3mo, , Devon Fremington
Elizabeth E do, S. Law, Un, 13, Scho, Middlesex Hammersmith London
Florence M do, Sr Law, Un, 8, Scho, Middlesex Hammersmith
The last two actually had the surname Blackmore (sisters of Eliza Ann) - there is enough evidence for this, including births in Kensington.

I suspected that the surname was written down wrongly and that it was really Blackmore - sisters of Eliza Ann. The later information on Elizabeth appeared to confirm this. Not only was Elizabeth Ellen buried with William, but Florence Mary was living with William in 1891. With birth certificates for both, then we have the final confirmation.

1891 census (indexed under Blackmon)
RG12/1777 Folio 30 P13
South Street, Braunton Devon
William Blackmore, Head, M, 64, Living on own Means, Devon Burrington
Florence Mary do, Daur, S, 18, Housekeeper, London Middlesex

1901 census - not yet found.
There are
Albert(29) and Mary(28) Boxhall+children - born Lambeth on RG13/440 F125 P28(Battersea). With them was Mary Reed, mother in law. Found this marriage in Mar 1892 to Mary Elizabeth Reed.
Frederick(32) and Frances(35) Boxall and children in Clovelly RG13/2165 F84 P6(Frances born Middlesex!)- in 1911, in Truro, she is Frances Elizabeth.
There is a Florence M Blackhall, 28, servant from Brentford Middx on RG13/677 F71 P5(Richmond). No sign of her in 1881 or 1891, and no birth found. But there was a marriage in Dec 1902 of Florence Maud L Blackhall in Kingston. Possibly Florence Blackmore.

1901 census
RG13/677 F71 P5
5 Broomfield Road, Richmond, Surrey
Florence M Blackhall, Serv, S, 28, Cook (Domestic), Mdx Brentford
- with Pearce family

1911 census
There is a Florence Boxall aged 38 in Kensington
BOXALL FLORENCE (RG14PN181 RG78PN6 RD2 SD3 ED17 SN191) Address 60 ST ERVANS RD NORTH KENSINGTON W County London District Kensington Subdistrict Kensington North Enumeration District 17 Parish Kensington
her husband is George Boxall, 36, Coal Porter, born Kensington London
BUT Florence is stated as born in Ashford Kent and married 12 years
This is likely to be Florence Edith Allen who married George Boxall in Fulham in Jun 1899
There is a Florence Blackmore, aged 28 in West Ham with her sister and mother, born Poplar - no fit

There is reference to Florence Mary in the will of her father (written Mar 1914), quoting a married name - Boxhall or Boxall (both spellings were used in the will).
I have searched FreeBMD for the marriage and also searched findmypast.com for the quarters where there was no Blackmore F (Mar 1891-Mar 1914). Without success. There was one missing page from findmypast.com - Sep 1911 (P86). But I've now seen this and there is no Florence. Also searched "Family Relatives" 1891-1915 and there is no Florence Mary Blackmore who would fit.

There is a marriage in Bristol of James Burston to Florence Mary Blackmore (Jun 1895 Bristol 6a 1)
On 1901 census this couple are in Wellington Somerset and all say they were born in Wellington. Florence is 31. Found the birth entry for this F.M Blackmore in Wellington in Dec 1869
- on family search it gives her father's name as James Blackmore

Searched 1915-1932 Canadian Naturalisation - no Boxall/Boxhall

The notice of her father's death in the North Devon Journal on 27 May 1920 says that he left 3 daughters and 4 sons, and that one daughter died 21 years ago [Elizabeth Ellen]. Hence Florence Mary was probably still alive in 1920. However, she wasn't listed as attending the funeral, nor was anyone else with the name Boxall.

I suspect that Florence had emigrated before she married. However, I have searched the ships lists on Findmypast and also passport applications (to 1903) on Ancestry without success (for Blackmore, Boxall or Boxhall). No reference found in Australia or on Canada censuses of 1901 or 1911. It just seems that she disappeared after 1891 other than the reference to her in the will of her father. The solicitors, Blackwell & Slee have destroyed all old records and so there is no possibility of tracing the accounts of the distribution of her father's estate.
