Healesville Guardian 3 May 1924 BIRTII. BLACKMORE (nee Edith IIamlyn). -On the 22nd April, at Nurse Tongo's Private Hospital, Heales- ville, to Mr. and Mrs. V. Black more, of West Healesville, a son -"Ernest Victor." Both well.
Healesville Guardian (Lilydale Victoria) Saturday 6 October 1951 BLACKMORE - DAWBORN. A pretty wedding was cele brated -:.in .Scots' Church,. Healesville, last Saturday, when Margery Ruth, second daughter'of Mr. and Mrs. Mil ton Dawborn, Healesville, be came the wife of Ernest Vic tor, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Blackmore, of Chum Creek. The bride, who was given away by. her father, looked charming in a gown of white lace and tulle, with a long train and 'bustle bow. She car ried a lovely bouquet of white gardenias. Her bridesmaids were her sister Marion and Miss Bates, who wore bouf fant frocks of blue lace and organdie, styled in lace-fitted bodices with organdie skirti, with lt3ce mittens. Their bou quets were of daffodils. Mr. Frank Blackmore was best man and Mr. E. Shipp groomsman. Rev. Spencer a former Presbyterian minister at Healesville and now of Flemington, officiated, assist ed by Mr. McKenzie. About: 114 guests attended the wedding breakfast at "Al pine Lodge." The bride's trav elling frock was a smart jun ior .navy tailored ensemble, with pale blue accesssories.
Healesville Guardian 30 May 1936 Empire Day at Chum Creek FINE ROUND OF FESTIVITIES. Arrangements wre -made by the Chum Creek School Committee to cele brate Empire Day at the school last Sunday. Favoredtiy glorious sunshine, the school playground was an ideal setting for the very enjgyable sports program, including races, apple eating cgntests, etd.,. at the conclusion of which a sumptuous tea was served in the schoolroom. Afterthis had been thoroughly enjoyed the scene recalled the lines from Longfellow's .poem, "The Children's Hour":.- "Between the dark and'tho daylight, When the night is beginning to lour, Comes a pause in the ddy's occupa tion. . That is known' as the children's hour.'? And the children's hour it certainly 'wag. The first item was a song, "The Ash Grove," by, the boys, fol ed by the girls singing "Strawberry Fair." Individual Items were given by Richard McKenzie,. "The Suniy, Sunny Land of Victoria"; Edna Mc Kenzle, "White and Yellow Jonquils": while recitations were given by Mar garet Blackmore ("The Pedlar Man'!), Lindsay Exton ("The Rainbow Fall: lei"), Dorothy Eddie ("What Father Said"), Ernest Blackmore ("Making Blackberry Jam"); Joy Exton ("The Beggar Man"), and Frank Blackmore "The Iair'y's House"). Afterwards special dances for the children were held, 1nd then the floor was given over to7 the grown-ups. Songs by M, and V. Blackmore and community singing of patriotic and other numbers concluded a very pleas ant round of festivities. Bealdes an abundant supply of sweets, each child received a present. Arrangements were in 'the capable hands of the school president (Mi'. W. Exton), who takes a Sdr'y keen inter eat in the school.

The attendance- of Ernest Victor Blackmore at the Chum Creek school for 9½ years without missing one day or being late on any occasion is claim ed to be a record cor Healesville, and maybe for other districts. Ernest, who is the eldest son of Mr and Mrs. Vic. Blackmore, of Chum Creek, started -school on-July 1, 1929, and left on December 22 last year. As soon as he left school he started work at MacNamara's garage, and it is uni- versally hoped that he puts up a sim- ilar performance in his new position.
