Name from marriage certificate of Arthur Joseph Gibson and Lavinia Smith
Also on baptism entry for Arthur Joseph

There was confusion because the correct birth certificate of Walter Gibson gives his parents as Arthur Joseph and Lavinia (Smith) - father's occupation was Merchant Seaman. But his Marriage certificate shows his father as George Gibson - occupation Mariner

I am guessing that Walter's father had died and that George might be his uncle
